At the end of October, a police officer noticed a car running a red light on Parkgatan/Södra Allégatan towards Avenyn. The incident happened at lunch time.
According to the police, the suspect car changed from the right lane to the left lane, and passed the traffic light when it turned red with a margin of one to three meters.
“40 meters further there is another traffic light. This also changes to yellow and later red“, the police say according to the investigation.
According to the police, the second traffic light turned red 5-10 meters before the car passed. It is this second run that is suspected of running a red light in relation to the charge.
The car was stopped and it turned out to be driven by Utsiktens BK coach Bosko Orovic. He had a fellow passenger, who he describes in his interrogation as an old football friend.
In the interrogation, Bosko also admits that he was behind the wheel, but that he ran a yellow light.
“The police: Do you understand the suspicion that is aimed at you?
– I understand the suspicion.
The police: How do you deal with doubt?
– No doubt.
The police: How did you experience the visibility at the red light?
– Very, very good. It was yellow, one hundred percent.
Police: How long was it yellow?
– It was yellow when I passed, I don’t know how long, but I drove on yellow and I only drove on yellow. If I had chosen to brake it would have been worse. It went from green to yellow, there was a car behind me that didn’t expect to brake either.
The police have also interviewed the football friend who was sitting on the passenger side. He confirms Bosko’s version in questioning.
“The only thing I noticed is that it cuts two yellow lights. That’s what I see. I understand there were two yellow lights, it could have been something else but I don’t think so. At least not in my opinion”said the football friend.
I got hit by a red light myself
The investigation shows that Bosko Orovic was in danger of losing his driver’s license on the spot, but that the police officer stayed and referred the matter to the Swedish Transport Agency:
“The driver’s license is not being processed at the scene as the suspect has an injury to his leg, which makes life difficult without a driver’s license prior to surgery. I apply to the Swedish Transport Agency to make a decision on revoking the driver’s license“.
The injury to the leg that Bosko refers to GP told before. He was then hit on his vespa by a car that ran a red light.
Since Bosko Orovic denies the crime, and did not accept a sentence, the prosecutors have proceeded to trial.
Following Utsikten’s top-flight finish this weekend, GP spoke to Bosko about the suspicions against him and the impending trial.
You ran a red light and got pulled over by the police, what happened?
– I didn’t drive towards red, I drove towards yellow, but apparently yellow is red today. I didn’t know that. I’m losing my driving license because you have to stop when it goes from green to yellow.
According to the preliminary investigation report, the police allege that you ran a red light.
– I drove towards yellow, I’ll admit that, but I didn’t drive towards red. It will go up in the district court.
Are you willing to sit in court for this?
– Yes, I would, but let’s see, now that I know the rule, you lose your driving license even for driving against a yellow light, then I’m lost already. Then I’ll take this. At the time when I gave the idea to the police, I did not know about that rule. I said I would run against yellow, which I did. Then it was not explained that the driver’s license expires regardless.
So there won’t be a test?
– I will talk to the district court on Monday, says Bosko Orovic.
The trial is scheduled for Thursday 21 November in the Gothenburg District Court.
