GERLINGEN (dpa-AFX) – In view of the rising demand for batteries across all industries, the technology group Bosch senses the opportunity for fast-growing business – also with the sale of entire factory equipment for battery production. The company is hoping for a jump in sales in this area from around 100 million euros in the previous year to around 250 million euros by 2025, as Bosch announced in Gerlingen on Thursday. For the entire period between 2020 and 2025, the aim is to generate sales of 1 billion euros in this business area.
As a conglomerate, Bosch is active in many fields, for example it also builds batteries for the automotive industry and other sectors. What is new is that, in addition to batteries, the group also increasingly wants to sell special technology for building and assembling them to other companies. It was said that everything was on offer, from individual components to software solutions and automated assembly lines. In the case of the latter, for example, battery cells can be welded and glued in automatically as the heart of a battery.
In terms of sales, the industrial technology division is the smallest of the four central corporate divisions in the Bosch Group. By far the most important is the subcontracting division for the automotive industry, which in the previous year accounted for well over half of the total turnover of 71.5 billion euros.
