Borussia Mönchengladbach starts the new Bundesliga season with an away game at FC Augsburg!
That has been clear since Friday (June 30, 2023). On this day, the DFL (German Football League) published the official schedule for the 2023/24 season.
Gladbach: Bundesliga schedule gives fans mixed feelings
After the opening duel in Fuggerstadt, the foals are expecting two big hits. First comes Rhineland rival Bayer Leverkusen, who is also the former employer of Gladbach’s new coach Gerardo Seoane (44), in the Borussia Park.
After that, on the third day of the game, record champions Bayern Munich are guests in Mönchengladbach. After another away game at newly promoted Darmstadt 98, ex-coach Marco Rose (46) and ex-manager Max Eberl (49) will be guests at the Fohlen Stadium with RB Leipzig.
Incidentally, there is another away game on the last day of the game: VfL concludes the 2023/24 Bundesliga season at VfB Stuttgart.
But how satisfied are the Borussia fans with the scheduling of the matchdays?
GladbachLIVE went in search of fan reactions online! This is how the Gladbach faithful react to the foal schedule!
On Borussia’s official Twitter account the reactions to the new Bundesliga schedule are rather restrained. While the majority of users are more concerned about when ticket sales for Borussia’s home games will start, a small proportion of fans seem to be quite satisfied with the schedule.
For example, a user writes: “It’s good to know that we’ll get the first three points by matchday 3 at the latest,” alluding to Gladbach’s recent strong performances against Bayern Munich.
Another Borussia fan is also looking forward to the duel with the record champions. He says he’s looking forward to “the 1-0 away defeat against Augsburg. Then there is a 1-2 draw against Leverkusen at home only to then beat the great FC Bayern terrifically 2-1.”
And a third explains: “I’m looking forward to the home game against Bayern, that’s a nice slap again!”

Also at Facebook numerous VfL supporters are particularly looking forward to the duel with Bayern.
One of the numerous comments there reads: “How good, in the 3rd game Munich, safe 3 points.”

Another user demands: “Now, after a few games of getting used to it, there are no more excuses. The fans have always been behind the club. 9 points in the first 3 games!”
And a third Gladbach fan writes: “In the first 5 games there will be 3 points and those against the farmers.”
A fourth is much more critical and posts: “Oh oh! Maybe the first points on the 6th matchday.”
“A great start for us. It doesn’t matter, we have to take it as it comes!” remarked another Borusse. A sixth fan speculates: “It could be a very grim start if you take last season’s results (seasons/cup in Darmstadt) as a benchmark. And will there be another three points against Bayern without Nagelsmann?”
And a sixth Gladbach fan says: “In terms of points, this will be the worst start to the season in the history of the Bundesliga for us….”
Overall, the comments on Facebook reflect a much more concerned image of the Gladbach fan scene than is the case on Twitter.
And how are the reactions on Borussia’s Instagram account?
Here, too, numerous fans are hesitating between looking forward to the duel against Bayern and other big opponents and worrying about a messed up start to the season.
A Gladbach trustee leaves this comment: “The first three home games were such tough ones. Whereby on the 3rd matchday at the latest the first three points beckon!”

Another fan says somewhat ironically: “After the first three games, 9 points straight away! 😂👀🙌🏻”
A third emphasized: “Leverkusen, Bayern and Leipzig in the first 5 games is tight!” And another post reads: “Great – Augsburg we always lose away, plus Leverkusen and Bayern … smells like a 0-1 point start …”
And another comment predicts: “Extremely difficult start. That could look like a relegation battle after the first 5 games!”
This thesis is supported by another user who says: “On the 34th matchday relegation final in Stuttgart”.
Nevertheless, there are confident statements from the Borussia fans. As one of them puts it: “Tough start program, but interesting game plan. It doesn’t matter anyway, whoever wants to become a champion has to beat everyone😂. I’m definitely looking forward to the new season.”
Another emphasizes: “Hammer program! 🙈🙈🙈 but with our group of young foals we can do it…😉”.
And a third left the following encouraging comment: “Every now and then a few feasible games and then nice highlights again. Looks like a good game plan to me. If the attitude of the team is right, it can be a really exciting season. Forza Borussia!” 💚
But what about the social media profiles of the GladbachLIVE editorial team? Here, too, the Fohlen faithful show a mixed mood in relation to the new Bundesliga schedule.
That’s one of the comments on the Facebook profile of our editors: “Both things that come will be difficult. In Augsburg, no matter how we play, we regularly go bankrupt. The same goes for the first home game against the pills. But let’s see. We’re almost completely redesigned now.”
A second person predicts: “4 points, one of them in Augsburg!”

It remains to be seen how Borussia’s start to the season will actually go and whether some of the fans will be right in their predictions.
The first Bundesliga matchday will be played between August 18th and 20th, 2023.
A week earlier (11 August/6 p.m.), VfL will also be in the first round of the DFB Cup TuS Bersenbrück an.
