SC Freiburg – Borussia Dortmund 2:4 (2:1)
Borussia Dortmund prevented another setback in the Bundesliga: BVB won 4-2 (1-2) at SC Freiburg and turned a deficit at half-time to their second win of the season.
Mats Hummels gave BVB the lead in the 11th minute. Then Lucas Höler (45th+2) and Nicolas Höfler (45th+6) turned the game in Freiburg’s favor. Donyell Malen equalized for Dortmund in the 60th minute and with Hummels’ second goal in the 88th minute, BVB took the lead again. In stoppage time Marco Reus (90+2) also scored to make it 4:2 (2:1).
RB Leipzig – FC Augsburg 3:0 (3:0)
RB Leipzig wins 3-0 (3-0) against FC Augsburg and thus reduces the gap to league leaders Bayer Leverkusen and FC Bayern Munich to one point.
First, Xavi Simons headed in the lead in the 7th minute in front of 44,746 spectators, four minutes later Loïs Openda made it 2-0. David Raum (27th) made the half-time and final score with his first RB goal. While RB is in third place in the Bundesliga table, Augsburg remains winless after four matchdays.
VfL Wolfsburg – Union Berlin 2:1 (2:1)
Wolfsburg wins 2:1 (2:1) against 1. FC Union Berlin. Four days before the first Champions League game in the club’s history, Union suffered its second defeat of the season.
In front of 28,917 spectators in Wolfsburg, Union started strong, but then literally invited VfL to take the lead in the 12th minute. Wolfsburg’s Jonas Wind made it 1-0 after a nice one-two with Lovro Majer. Only two minutes passed between Robin Gosens’ 1-1 (28th) and Joakim Maehle’s 2-1 (30th).
FSV Mainz 05 – VfB Stuttgart 1:3 (0:0)
FSV Mainz 05’s low is getting worse: Mainz loses 3-1 against VfB Stuttgart. Serhou Guirassy scored all three goals for VfB in front of 30,500 spectators (56th minute/84th/90th+7). Leandro Barreiro’s equalizer (70th) wasn’t enough for Mainz.
Mainz initially got into the game better, Marco Richter had their first chance in the 9th minute. After that, VfB took more and more control, but the first goal only came in the second half. The equalizing goal gave Mainz hope for a while, but they ultimately suffered their third defeat of the season.
1. FC Cologne – 1899 Hoffenheim 1:3 (0:2)
TSG Hoffenheim won 3-1 (2-0) at 1. FC Köln. Hoffenheim’s Andrej Kramarić scored after just 50 seconds. Florian Grillitsch (28th) took advantage of a mistake by Cologne goalkeeper Marvin Schwäbe and scored with a shot from the halfway line – according to Sky broadcaster from 55.6 meters. Maximilian Beier (52nd) stepped up in the second half.
Cologne scored another goal in the 61st minute through Davie Selke. After the defeat, the team now only has one point. Rasmus Carstensen then saw a yellow-red card after a foul in stoppage time (90.+1).
VfL Bochum – Eintracht Frankfurt 1:1 (0:0)
VfL Bochum and Eintracht Frankfurt drew 1-1 (0-0). In front of 26,000 spectators, the guests from Frankfurt seemed close to their second win of the season after Eric Dina Ebimbe’s opening goal (55th). However, the Bochum team managed to get their deserved equalizer through Kevin Stöger with a penalty kick (74′).
Both teams played a draw three times in a row. Eintracht under coach Dino Toppmöller is still unbeaten. At VfL, however, the wait for their first win of the season continues.
