Borussia Dortmund to Terminate Contract of Flop Nico Schulz to Force Departure

It’s the biggest flop in the club’s recent history – and Borussia Dortmund just can’t get rid of it. Not even for zero euros (more here).

The plan to give Nico Schulz a free transfer despite the current contract does not seem to work either. According to a report, Borussia Dortmund is therefore going to extremes. The ex-national player’s contract should be terminated prematurely.

Nobody is happy with the current situation. That should be impossible. More than a year has passed since Nico Schulz’s last competitive game. After Edin Terzic failed to set foot on the ground at the umpteenth attempt in Dortmund, he pulled the ripcord and finally eliminated him from the squad.

Schulz can continue to train with the pros, but there will no longer be an assignment in black and yellow. After four screwed up years at BVB, the chapter should come to an end. Both sides want that.

According to media reports, Borussia Dortmund has long been ready to hand over the full-back on a free transfer until 2024, despite the contract. The main thing is that the annual five million euros disappear from the payroll. But even that doesn’t seem to work because there is a lack of interested parties. Therefore, the next and last escalation level is now heralded.

BVB and Schulz are about to terminate their contract. According to “Sport 1”, there are many indications that the contract, which is still valid for one year, will be terminated prematurely and by mutual agreement. However, Borussia Dortmund will also cost money. Since Nico Schulz is of course not willing to give up the full five million euros that he is still entitled to in salary, a compromise should be found.

An obvious possibility: Half of this, i.e. around 2.5 million euros, will be paid out for the conclusion of the termination agreement. Schulz does without the other half, can start looking for a club a year earlier and start a new chapter at the age of 30.
