Börse Express – New York Stocks: Hardly changed

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – The US stock markets barely moved on the last trading day of a successful stock market year. The Dow Jones Industrial rose 0.15 percent to 36,453.01 points two hours before the end of trading on Friday after hitting a record high the previous day.

The S&P 500 gained 0.05 percent on 4780.97 points. The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 In contrast, it fell by 0.32 percent to 16,376.20 points.

However, the view of the year as a whole is very positive. The Dow is on track to gain almost a fifth in 2021. The S&P and the Nasdaq 100 could even gain more than a quarter each.

There was initially no market-moving news from either the corporate or the economic world. Experts expect trading to be thin, and important world exchanges such as Frankfurt, Tokyo and Zurich will remain closed on this day.

Tesla slipped 0.36 percent. After the recall of almost half a million cars in the USA the day before, the electric car maker now has to order vehicles to the workshops in China as well. In the year almost ended, the company’s share price, which is one of the very few worldwide on the stock market to be valued at more than one trillion US dollars, has risen by a good half so far. / He
