Börse Express – New York shares: Rising oil prices are causing a depressed mood again

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – On Tuesday, sharp increases in oil prices fueled fears of inflation and recession and hit the stock market mood. After the holiday on Monday, the Dow Jones Industrial started with a loss of 1.01 percent to 32 877.44 points in the week. On a monthly basis, a minus of 0.3 percent is imminent. The best-known Wall Street index only managed the largest weekly increase since 2020 last week. Bargain hunters grabbed it again and used the supposedly cheaper prices after the slide from the end of April to mid-May to get started. Signals from the US Federal Reserve (Fed), which investors had taken as evidence of only a gradual tightening of US monetary policy, also helped.

The market-wide S&P 500 lost 1.03 percent on Tuesday to 4115.32 points. The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100
fell by 1.14 percent to 12,537.42 points and is currently down 2.5 percent for the month./ck/he
