Börse Express – New York shares: Nasdaq continues to recover

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – The Nasdaq technology exchange continued its recovery on Monday. At the same time, the Wall Street index Dow Jones Industrial was rather directionless. The US Federal Reserve’s plan to raise interest rates in the near future remains in focus. At the same time, the surprisingly strong labor market report for January is causing nervousness about the extent and speed of possible interest rate hikes this year. Added to this are the high oil prices and the Ukraine conflict, in which the USA has taken a clear position.

The leading index Dow fell 0.02 percent in early business to 35,082.41 points. The S&P 500 index covering the broad market gained a modest 0.13 percent to 4506.35 points, while the tech-heavy select index Nasdaq 100
