Börse Express – New York shares: Mostly moderate losses before US interest rate decision

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – The New York stock markets initially recorded losses again on the day of the eagerly awaited interest rate decision by the US Federal Reserve. However, these were limited – some weaker than expected economic data on Wednesday at least did not fuel any additional fears of a stricter monetary policy.

The leading index Dow Jones Industrial dropped 0.58 percent to 33,887.68 points in the first hour of trading. For the market-wide S&P 500 was down 0.21 percent to 4068.24 points, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100
0.11 percent lost to 12,088.16 points. The day before, the indices had partly made up for their losses at the start of the week with a strong finale./gl/jha/
