Börse Express – New York shares: Conflict over Ukraine slows stock exchanges even before the weekend

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – In view of the risks associated with the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, investors held back on the last trading day of the week. After the bitter losses of the previous day, however, the downward pressure eased on Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial fell 0.22 percent to 34,240 points in early trading. A loss of 1.4 percent in the leading index is emerging for the stock exchange week that is ending.

The tech-heavy started Nasdaq 100 the trading day with a minus of 0.41 percent to 14,114 points. The market-wide S&P 500 fell by 0.25 percent to 4370 points./bek/he
