NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – After a weak start to the week, investors continue to shun US stocks on Tuesday. The leading US index Dow Jones Industrial Half an hour after the start, it was 0.22% lower at 33,872.59 points. Meanwhile, the other indices fell a little more sharply: the market-wide S&P 500 lost 0.60 percent to 3974.94 points and the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 it lost 1.13% to 11,653.75 points.

Investors have continued to digest the relatively good US economic data released in recent days. According to Mark Haefele, chief investment officer at UBS Global Wealth Management, such news has recently been interpreted as bad news for stocks and bonds. This is due to the conclusion that the US Federal Reserve will not be able to return to a looser monetary policy any time soon in the face of persistently high inflation. At the same time, there are still no economic prerequisites for a sustainable recovery./tih/mis
