SHANGHAI, April 20 /PRNewswire/ — Infinix has unveiled the ultra-fast 180W Thunder Charge technology, which will debut on select Infinix flagship phones to be announced in the second half of the year. The groundbreaking new technology allows users to find the time for a 1-50% charge of the 4500mAh battery in just four minutes[1]to achieve faster and safer charging of smart devices for users.
“Following the release of the Infinix 160W fast charging concept phone last year, the Infinix 180W Thunder Charge is another industry breakthrough that brings ultra-fast charging technology to the public. Infinix strives to keep improving day-to-day efficiency through iteration and innovation of fast charging technology so that users around the world can be the first to lead efficient and convenient digital lives,” said Manfred Hong, Senior Product Director of Infinix.
Industry-leading 180W charging technology
Ultra-fast charging has never been more prevalent, and with the development of safer, higher-voltage charging methods, this technology is becoming more popular in mid-range devices.
Regular smartphones with fast charging capabilities usually use batteries with a charging rate of 1~3C, while 180W Thunder Charge uses batteries with a rate of 8C, which effectively reduces the risk of battery overheating due to fast charging technology. Infinix, in collaboration with the world’s leading battery manufacturers, has developed a new 8C battery cell that currently boasts the fastest charging speed in the industry. The 8C cell has a lower internal resistance than the traditional single-electrode structure. The 8C cell has a multi-electrode structure that reduces the internal resistance by more than 50%[2] reduced and generates less heat. In addition, the 180W Thunder Charge uses two 8C batteries in series, so the charging power of each battery is only 90W during charging, which reduces heat generation and increases longevity.
180W Thunder Charge also uses automatic bi-directional power delivery technology to extend phone life by 2%[3] to extend, compared to mobile phones with conventional double-cell battery. Automatic bi-directional power supply technology reduces the power supply circuit area by 60%, increases circuit layout precision and saves space. The charging technology works with dynamic distribution. Three parallel charge pumps support the most powerful conversion ever in an Infinix device, achieving 99% efficiency[4] in charge conversion, avoiding overload and overheating. This is the pinnacle of Infinix charging technology to date.
Charge safer
To put safety first, 180W Thunder Charge has 111 software and hardware security mechanisms to protect smartphones, chargers and charging cables. The security protection will be triggered under abnormal scenarios such as high temperature, increased voltage, electromagnetic interference, etc. to ensure the safety of the smartphone system.
In addition, the 180W Thunder Charge has 20 temperature sensors distributed in the USB inputs, the charging chips, on the battery and elsewhere in the device. The load is monitored in real time by an intelligent temperature control algorithm that keeps track of everything. During charging, the temperature of the smartphone is kept below 43℃[5]held, which enables safe and fast charging without excessive heat development or damage to the battery.
The 180W Thunder Charge cable features a special Infinix encryption chip that enables 180W power transmission for ultra-fast charging. 180W Thunder Charge can intelligently detect the power transmission capacity of the cable and adjust accordingly. If another cable without Infinix’s special encryption chip is connected to the device, it will recognize the cable and limit the power to 60W/100W to ensure safe charging.
Powerful, compatible and portable
Infinix 180W Thunder Charge technology is one of the most advanced solutions Infinix has developed to date and represents a technological breakthrough for mid-range smartphones. The 180W Thunder Charge offers users an extremely fast and intelligent way to power Infinix devices with next-generation charging speeds, lower temperatures, and more secure protocols.
The technology includes the new semiconductor material GaN, which enables the 180W Thunder Charge to withstand a wide range of high-temperature environments in excess of 40°C. In addition, the charging adapter is compatible with multiple fast charging protocols and can fast charge most electronic devices on the market including mobile phones, tablets and laptops with a maximum output of 100W, giving users maximum flexibility with one solution for all devices. Users can also use cables from other manufacturers to charge Infinix devices up to 100W.
180W Thunder Charge has two separate charging modes: Furious Mode and Standard Mode. The “Furious” mode can be activated at the touch of a button and gives the user a super-fast charging with 180 W.
With the world’s leading application of 180-watt fast charging technology, which Infinix makes available for series smartphones, Infinix proves its high level of technical competence and innovative spirit. Making this technology accessible to the general public at an affordable price is one of Infinix’s core values and represents Infinix’s desire to democratize high-end technology and make it available to anyone who wants it. Stay tuned for our upcoming new products with 180W Thunder Charge coming in the second half of this year.
