ams OSRAM (six: AMS) completes the sale of relevant assets in the Passive Optical Components business to Focuslight Technologies Inc. for approximately EUR 45 million in cash.
“I am pleased that the sale of relevant assets in the area of Passive Optical Components to Focuslight Technologies was completed exactly as planned,” said Aldo Kamper, CEO of ams OSRAM. “The exit from the non-core portfolio of our semiconductor business is a key element of our strategic efficiency program ‘Re-establish the Base’. We are fully on track to achieve the promised savings, i.e., compared to the actual values of 2023, EUR 75 million by the end of the 2024 fiscal year and EUR 150 million in running costs by the end of the 2025 fiscal year.”
Implementation of the future program ‘Re-establish the Base’
On July 27, 2023, ams OSRAM presented its strategic efficiency program ‘Re-establish the Base’ in order to focus on its profitable core for sustainable, profitable growth in the future. This includes portfolio measures to divest or restructure individual non-core areas of the semiconductor portfolio. A key measure announced was the sale of relevant assets from the passive optical components business.
On May 7, 2024, ams OSRAM again completed the sale of relevant assets in the Passive Optical Components business to Focuslight Technologies Inc. (Focuslight – Never Stop Exploring), a fast-growing optical technology company based in Xi’an (China), for EUR 45 million in cash. The assets now transferred include buildings and facilities in Singapore and Switzerland as well as research and development facilities including the associated intellectual property.
The sale was completed today, ams OSRAM received the sales price in cash from Focuslight Technologies.
