(ANSA) – BRUSSELS, MAY 02 – NATO allies are “deeply concerned” by Russia’s recent “malign activities”, of a hybrid nature, in the wake of recent cases which have led to the investigation and indictment of more individuals in Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic. This was communicated by the headquarters of the Atlantic Alliance. “These incidents are part of an increasingly intense campaign of activities that Russia continues to carry out throughout the Euro-Atlantic area, including on the territory of the Alliance and through intermediaries”, claims NATO. Examples include “disinformation, sabotage, acts of violence, computer and electronic interference, disinformation campaigns and other hybrid operations.” “NATO allies express deep concern about Russia’s hybrid actions, which pose a threat to the security of allies. We support and stand in solidarity with affected allies. We will act individually and collectively to address these actions and will continue to coordinate closely,” said reads in a statement. “We will continue to strengthen our resilience and apply and enhance the tools at our disposal to counter and challenge Russian hybrid actions and ensure that the Alliance and Allies are prepared to deter and defend against hybrid actions or attacks. We condemn the behavior of the Russia and we urge it to respect its international obligations, as allies do with theirs: Russia’s actions will not dissuade Allies from continuing to support Ukraine.” (HANDLE).
