‘Born in Latvia’ – meeting of internationally recognized and young musicians at the ‘Jurmala Festival’

As “Delfi” informs the organizers, the conductor of the concert – the internationally recognized musical director of the Berlin Comic Opera Ainars Rubikis.

The concert will bring together musicians of different generations, Latvian-born music talents – the rapidly flourishing young talents, the most prominent artists of Latvian concert life, and Latvian musicians with international fame, whose performance is always a welcome event in their homeland.

The soloist group will be called the accordion princess Ksenija Sidorova, winner of international competitions, virtuoso violinist Daniils Bulajevs, world-famous opera singer Alexander Antonenko and opera soloist Laura Grecka, outstanding percussion virtuoso Guntars Freibergs, as well as bright and versatile pianist Agnese Egliņa. Listeners will have the opportunity to hear new talents, students of Emils Darzins Music High School – cellist Maksim Skibickas, who will play the first part of Dmitry Shostakovich’s First Cello Concerto and clarinetist Anna Kubeck, in whose performance we will hear Karl Maria von Weber’s orchestra “Concertino” orchestra. They will also perform in joint duets with experienced musicians.

The program will feature the solemn Adolf Skulte’s “Overture”, the third part of Imants Kalniņš’s Sixth Symphony, George Gerschwin’s overture to the musical “Crazy Girl”, the first part of Kārlis Lāčs Piano Concerto performed by Agnese Egliņa, the painful and temperamental themes ”, which will be played by Daniils Bulaevs. The second part of Emanuel Sēžnē will also feature a concert for marimba performed by Guntars Freibergs, as well as compositions by Astor Piacolla and Manuel de Falja and the most beautiful songs from the operas of Georges Bizet and Rugero Leonkavallo.

It has already been reported that from July 27 to 31, the seventh “Jurmala Festival” will take place in person at the Dzintari Concert Hall with five concerts. The honorary artist of the festival is opera singer Alexander Antonenko.

Visitors to the Jurmala Festival concerts will be required to present an interoperable vaccination or Covid-19 disease certificate, as well as an identity document. The rules also apply to children.
