Borja debuted at Guild as a starter and being decisive. Today (9), the center forward made his debut at the new club and secured the comeback victory against the Chapecoense, in a match of the 15th round of the Brazilian Championship, when he scored a penalty goal. Felipão’s team was scared at the start of the game in Porto Alegre, but managed to make it 2-1 in the first half.
It was the club’s first victory as home team at Brasileirão and second overall. Chape, who debuted as a coach Pintado, remains without a win.
Anselmo Ramon opened the score at the beginning of the game. Alisson equalized and Borja turned, with a penalty, at 35 of the initial stage.
Grêmio now has 10 points. Chapecoense still has four. The Grêmio team occupies the nineteenth position and the team from Santa Catarina is the lantern.
Grêmio returns to the field against São Paulo, on Saturday (14), at 9 pm (Brasilia time), in Morumbi. Chapecoense plays in the next round against América-MG, at home, on Monday (16), at 20:00 (GMT).
Who did well: Miguel Borja
Colombian, loaned by Palmeiras, played with good movement. The participation yielded five conclusions among the 14, in the first half. It was Borja who suffered and took the penalty that decided the score.
Who disappointed: Douglas Costa
Back after three games, the attacking midfielder played a game beyond discretion. At times, it lacked explosion or strength. In other bids, Douglas Costa seemed disconnected from the team. In the final stage, he even played in another part of the field. To no avail.
Gabriel Chapecó saves with Brenno watching
The Grêmio goalkeeper didn’t have much to do with Anselmo Ramon’s shot, which opened the scoring, but shortly thereafter, the scenario was different. At 8 minutes into the first half, Gabriel Chapecó was lucky to see a shot from outside the area hit the foot of the left post. On the rebound, Chape’s center forward kicked at close range and Chapecó’s arm prevented the 2-0. The goalkeeper, gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympic Games, returned to Porto Alegre today.
Grêmio plays a “different” game and gets scared
Grêmio played more offensively, as it was a home game and against the worst team in the league. With a different posture, the team suffered. The exposed defense scored early and watched Chapecoense create other opportunities — especially in the first half. And in the attack, tranquility was slow to appear. Offensive performance was limited, but within the game it grew. The turnaround helped make the team more relaxed and with room to try to be more creative. In the second half, Léo Pereira lost a great chance inside the area.
Chapecoense goes to the limit
Pintado debuted as Chape’s new coach, betting on a game of enormous concentration. It worked in the beginning. In the first attack, the team from Santa Catarina knew how to take advantage of Grêmio’s defense error to generate total disengagement. But over the course of the first stage, the yield hit the ceiling. It lacked more ensemble and also individuality to take the team forward. At least not to make the opponent completely comfortable.
