The property status of some of the ministers in the caretaker cabinet is also impressive – the Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov has declared several properties in Sofia, Nessebar and the village of Anton, and the Minister of Economy Kiril Petkov has bought a car for BGN 60,000 and has declared more than one million BGN abroad. Every year, people holding senior government positions must submit declarations of their property status by May 15 – for the previous calendar year. Within two months, the commission, headed by former Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov, is committed to publishing the declarations on its website, as well as a list of those who have not filed.
According to information from the commission’s website dated July 28, for the first six months of 2021, 533 persons holding senior public positions did not submit declarations of property and interests or submitted them outside the established deadlines. “For 243 of them, a decision was made to carry out an inspection to establish illegally acquired property. The other former deputy prime minister, Krassimir Karakachanov, has added a new car to his property (a Toyota for BGN 15,000) and an additional BGN 55,000 to his available funds. He currently has 165 thousand, while in 2019 the amount amounted to 110 thousand levs. He and his wife – Rositsa Slabakova – have another BGN 126,000 on deposit.
Former Minister of Interior Hristo Terziiski has declared a total of BGN 254,144 from salaries and sale of property, former Minister of Sports Krasen Kralev has cash in the amount of BGN 398,000.
In 2019, the former Minister of Health and former head of Alexandrovska Hospital Kostadin Angelov bought an apartment with a garage and a parking space and ideal parts for almost BGN 600,000.
