GERB President Boyko Borissov is taking part in a video conference at the EPP summit today, the party’s press office said. The talks focused on the supply of vaccines and the Union’s relations with Turkey and Russia, which the heads of state and government will discuss at the European Council starting today, the government’s press service said.
In front of his EPP colleagues, Boyko Borissov pointed out the enormous work that the EC and personally its President Ursula von der Leyen have done to order a sufficient number of vaccines for the EU population. “In this difficult situation, it is even more important for vaccine companies to abide by their contracts with the EC, because the course of immunization campaigns in the member states directly depends on this. The delay in the supply of vaccines is already becoming a political problem, “Borissov commented. In this regard, he welcomed the stated readiness of the EC to apply various measures to pharmaceutical companies in order to speed up the supply of medicines. “The core values of the EU are unity and solidarity. Let’s show it. No country should be left alone in this crisis and where there is a need – to help, “said the chairman of GERB.
On the topic of the EU’s relations with Turkey and Russia, Borissov was categorical: “Peace and diplomacy – this is how every problem must be solved. Both sides are important partners and we must continue an active dialogue with them. However, as the largest European party, we must not compromise in our relations with respect for fundamental European values and mutual respect. “
In conclusion, the EPP leaders wished success to Borissov and GERB in the upcoming April 4 parliamentary elections in Bulgaria. “It has always been an honor for me to be part of the EPP family. Thanks for the support over the years. For GERB, as well as for the EPP, tolerance, respect for democratic principles and ensuring better living conditions for people are key priorities. We have a plan for the development of the country and it is clearly outlined in our program. We are confident that we can bring the country and the economy forward, “said the chairman of GERB.
