Regional mayors may also be included in the candidate list of GERB. The leader of the party Boyko Borisov gave carte blanche to the idea of the regional coordinator Ivan Totev at today’s meeting in Sofia, writes “Maritsa”.
Borissov’s carte blanche is also available for Totev’s other proposal – for a more party presence in the list at the expense of the civic quota. The explicit condition that the GERB leader set for the Plovdiv party leader is for the lawyer Radomir Cholakov to remain in an elective position. The motive is that as a candidate and MP Cholakov has performed well, explained Ivan Totev.
He and Borisov have agreed not to hold meetings in the regional structures on the occasion of the list. It can be adjusted at the level of city management, in which the chairmen of the regional organizations and the mayor Zdravko Dimitrov participate, although he is in hospital from tomorrow and will maintain the connection online, if possible.
The final decision on the list of GERB – Plovdiv will be taken by the Executive Committee, said Totev, who is also a member of the Executive Committee.
He added that Radomir Cholakov will probably be in third or fourth place, and the other candidates from the civil quota can be moved without being in the top five. These are the sculptor Vejdi Rashidov and the former mayor of Plovdiv Spas Garnevski.
Boyko Borissov has confirmed that he will lead the Plovdiv list, a tradition he has followed since 2009.
The city government will meet early next week.
