Former Prime Minister and GERB leader Boyko Borissov has slightly increased his savings compared to 2019, while other members of the previous cabinet have increased their deposits or bought new cars. The property status of some of the ministers in the caretaker cabinet is also impressive – the Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov has declared several properties in Sofia, Nessebar and the village of Anton, and the Minister of Economy Kiril Petkov has bought a car for BGN 60,000 and has declared more than one million abroad. This shows a reference in the declarations submitted to the Commission for confiscation of illegally acquired property and conflict of interest for 2020. Almost at the same time every year

Every year, people holding senior government positions must submit declarations of their property status by May 15 – for the previous calendar year. Within two months, the commission, headed by former Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov, is committed to publishing the declarations on its website, as well as a list of those who have not filed.

According to information from the commission’s website dated July 28, for the first six months of 2021, 533 persons holding senior public positions did not submit declarations of property and interests or submitted them outside the established deadlines. “For 243 of them, a decision was made to carry out an inspection to establish illegally acquired property. For the rest, it was found that the delay was due to objective impossibility (mainly health problems or the pandemic situation related to COVID-19).” , became known from the message. 100 acts for administrative violations were drawn up, 51 penal decrees were issued, and in 14 of the cases a fine in the total amount of BGN 21,000 was paid.

In 2020 Boyko Borisov has increased its savings compared to the previous year, according to a reference in the register of KPKONPI. His available funds have increased to BGN 184 thousand, while in 2019 they were nearly BGN 117 thousand. The amount in his bank deposit has not changed since 2018 and continues to be nearly BGN 190 thousand.

The former deputy prime minister Tomislav Donchev has declared that it has BGN 90,000 and another BGN 100,000 on deposit. For comparison, in 2020 he indicated that he owns only BGN 38,000 in cash.

The property status of the former Deputy Prime Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva has also increased – in 2019 it began construction of a house in Greece on agricultural land purchased in 2008. The construction of the building with a size of 200 square meters is estimated at BGN 262,081. It has about 50 thousand. BGN on deposit, and her husband Angel Zahariev has funds available in the amount of about BGN 156 thousand (have not changed since 2018)

The other ex Deputy Prime Minister – Krassimir Karakachanov, has added a new car to its property status (Toyota for BGN 15,000) and an additional BGN 55,000 to its available funds. He currently has 165 thousand, while in 2019 the amount amounted to 110 thousand levs. He and his wife – Rositsa Slabakova – have another BGN 126,000 on deposit.

Former Interior Minister Hristo Terziiski has declared a total of BGN 254,144 from salaries and sale of property, the former Minister of Sports Krasen Kralev there are cash available in the amount of BGN 398 thousand.

In 2019, the former Minister of Health and former head of Alexandrovska Hospital Kostadin Angelov has bought an apartment with a garage and a parking space and ideal parts for almost 600 thousand levs. The size of the apartment is 295 sq.m. According to Angelov’s property declaration, he paid a contractual mortgage in the amount of BGN 509,227 to DSK Bank.

Of the ministers in the caretaker cabinet, the “poorest” are the deputy prime ministers Atanas Pekanov and the Minister of Finance Asen Vassilev. He has declared three apartments in Sofia, several more properties in the capital and the district, two houses in the village of Anton and an apartment in Nessebar. A marriage contract is indicated as a ground. The caretaker Prime Minister Stefan Yanev has three apartments, acquired from 1997 to 2016, one of which is in Bansko, as well as deposits in the name of him and his wife for over BGN 70,000.

The richest of the caretaker ministers is the Minister of Economy Kiril Petkov. According to his declaration, he has over BGN 1 million in a deposit abroad and another BGN 80,000 in cash. In 2021, Petkov bought a Lexus car for BGN 60,000.

The regional minister Violeta Komitova has declared that it has bought a house with a yard for BGN 430 thousand (73 sq.m.) in 2021. Its available funds amount to about BGN 41 thousand.

In 2020, the Minister of Transport Andrey Zhivkov he also got a house with a yard in the Kyustendil region and a Mercedes car for BGN 12,000.

The Minister of Health Stoycho Katsarov and his wife have a deposit of nearly BGN 230,000. His wife, Elisaveta Enisheinova, owns a medical center.
