Austrian business wrote a key letter
Boyko Borisov indicated the main priorities for entering Schengen by land.
“When we again become the state guaranteeing the external borders of the European Union, everything will happen. The “change” took us thousands of kilometers away from Schengen and the Eurozone. Bulgaria must immediately have a regular government and guarantee the protection of the external borders”, said the leader of GERB Boyko Borisov during a forum in Sofia dedicated to Schengen and the Eurozone.
“We must guarantee our partners in Austria zero migration,” said Borissov. And he recalled that in Germany and the Netherlands border control is returning.
“This is because of incompetents who manage the external borders of the EU, and they are in many places,” the GERB leader pointed out.
“A week before the elections in Austria is probably the best time to talk about this topic,” noted Borisov. “I have always looked at Europe as a family, but in this family everyone has their own task. Has Bulgaria completed its task in the last four years? Absolutely not. With what eyes should I stand before the Austrian chancellor and say that in recent years the Schengen external the border is well guarded,” commented Boyko Borisov.
“From David Cameron to Viktor Orbán came to our border to study. The Balkan road was closed,” he pointed out. According to Boyko Borissov, our country must guarantee its friends and partners in Austria that it protects the external borders of the European Union well, but this can only happen if there is a stable government. “We were an example,” he added. “We are grateful to our European family, which gave BGN 300 million to refurbish our border. That’s why my doctrine was accepted, that the outsourced migration centers should be in Turkey, in Africa – not on the territory of the EU. That’s why I kept friendship with Turkey , because of the EU. Now the Balkan road works. Every day or every other day, usually 9, 10, 20 illegal migrants,” added Borisov.
Boyko Borisov also pointed out that Bulgaria and Romania are like “jumped vessels”, not only on the subject of full Schengen membership. “God ordained that we should be neighbors and help each other,” he added. “When the Schengen issue was being resolved, Austrian business wrote a letter to its rulers, in which the interests of Austrian business and Bulgaria coincided,” Borisov emphasized.
“I’m not talking to you in the future, I’m talking today about what needs to be done and I know how to do it,” Borisov addressed the participants in the forum, organized by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce – Union of Bulgarian Business (BSK), together with the European Economic and social committee (EESC).
According to the leader of GERB, the losses are a natural fact of what has been done in Bulgaria in the last few years. “I want us to become the state that guarantees the external border again and everything will happen,” he said. According to him, if there is no stable government and clear political responsibility, other culprits will be sought.
“If GERB rules, I will not change the head of the Border Police, but I will support him with political will,” Borisov requested.
“As far as the Eurozone is concerned, it’s the same thing there – all the criteria from Bulgaria are covered,” said Borisov and called on Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković to check his notes.
“They love Bulgaria in the European family”, Borisov added in conclusion and continued: “but Bulgaria must be disciplined and fulfill its commitments”.
