Three months after the start of the work of the National Assembly, the leaders of almost all parliamentary committees were finally elected. Before this happened, there was another scandal on the subject – BSP, ITN and “Vazrazhdane” were dissatisfied with the chairmanships provided for them and therefore gave them up and left the plenary hall.
Thus, in the end, the leaders of 22 out of 25 standing committees were elected. GERB got the most chairmanships – 14, DPS got 5, and “We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria” – three. The three commissions that were planned for the BSP, ITN and “Vazrazhdane” – for the direct participation of citizens, for Bulgarians abroad and for tourism – remained without bosses.
The leader of GERB and former prime minister Boyko Borisov was elected chairman of the committee on foreign policy with 161 votes “for” and one against – for Radostin Vassilev, who left PP-DB. Ekaterina Zaharieva (GERB), Daniel Laurer (PP-DB) and Filiz Hyusmenova (DPS) became Borisov’s vice-presidents in the commission.
The co-chairman of the PP Kiril Petkov took the chief post in the European Union (EU) Committee. Denitsa Simeonova (PP-DB), Denitsa Nikolova (GERB) and Tsvetan Enchev (DPS) became his deputies. The decision was taken with 155 votes in favour.
The “Magnitsky” deputy from the DPS, sanctioned under the global law delyan peevski kept his promise and left the parliamentary constitutional committee, but became a member of that on legal matters. Chief of the constitutional commission became Radomir Cholakov from GERB, and on the legal one was the 30-year-old lawyer from PP Stoyu Stoevwho has so far been the only elected committee chairman.
Parliamentary budget committee was headed by Jordan Tsonev from DPS. The movement also received the chief post in the Economic Commissionwhich was occupied by Hamid Hamid. Khalil Letifov he became the boss of the transport commission. The other two commissions of the DPS this under environment (Stanislav Anastasov became the deputy chairman of the DPS) and sports (Nebiye Kabak was elected chief).
In addition to the foreign and constitutional commission, GERB also received: regional, agricultural, defense, anti-corruption, internal, social, education, health, cultural, human rights, control of services, and energy.
In addition to the legal and European committees, PP-DB also received the chairmanship of the parliamentary committee on electronic control. The former minister with the same portfolio and a current MP from DB became the boss Bozhidar Bojanov.
