“The Eight Dwarves” is a magistrate’s establishment where colleagues, magistrates, gathered. The district court, district prosecutor’s office is nearby. A place where one can go to see someone. And if someone said to me “Let’s meet there”, I wouldn’t say “No, no, because it’s dangerous”. It has become toxic at this point…”
He said this on Sunday (June 4) in an interview with BNR the director of the National Investigation Service and deputy. chief prosecutor Borislav Sarafov. He commented that he is now aware of how toxic it is, but it became so after the investigation of the Anti-Corruption Fund in 2020. for schemes of former investigator Petyo Petrov – Pepi Euroto.
Sarafov also confirms that many magistrates went there. He himself, in response to a question, indicated that he had been “five-six-seven times”. “Perhaps twice” he met in the restaurant “Eight Dwarfs” with the chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev.
While commenting on the restaurant and the visitors, Sarafov said that he also wanted to recall “the words of the real victim of the “Eight Dwarfs” incident – Yavor Zlatanov, that they scared him with Ivan Geshev, who was appointed by Pepi Euroto”. And he explained that Geshev and Petrov have known each other for a long time. According to him, it was widely known in the Courthouse that Geshev and Petrov were “quite close”.
Over the past week, the Eight Dwarfs case has once again attracted not only the public but also the attention of investigators after Sunday (May 28) photos of Sarafov in the restaurant of the same name on a date with Pepi Euroto. He himself dated it to about three years ago and stated that it was made by private outside surveillance of the Attorney General.
It followed action of the prosecutor’s office in a restaurant, in which the former investigator was wanted, and then two participants in the scheme spoke to the media. On the one hand the ex-wife of Pepi Euroto – Lyubena Pavlova gave an interview for the Anti-Corruption Fund, in which she connected only Sarafov with the “Eight Dwarfs” and stated that she did not see Geshev there. On the other hand – Kristiyan Hristov, whom the Petrovi family used years ago for various orders – spoke to BBC and tried to give a press conference, but before it was detained at the request of the prosecution and then accused of illegally wiretapping Petrov.
Petrov himself will also receive charges – for coercion and illegal recordingsif found, because he was declared wanted, and BNT reported on Sunday that, according to their information, he went to Dubai with his child through Turkey.
