Prof. Boris Velchev

The former chairman of the Constitutional Court, Prof. Boris Velchev, is the new rector of the Higher School of Insurance and Finance (VUZF), it became clear from the institution’s website.
He was elected unanimously at a meeting of the Board of Trustees of VUZF, held on November 30, 2021 in the academic hall of the University, with a 4-year term of December 6, 2021. The term of Prof. Velchev in the CC expired in mid-November last year.
The current rector of VUZF Assoc. Prof. Dr. Grigory Vazov will continue to be the executive director of the Laboratory for Scientific and Applied Research at the University – VUZF Lab. He is also President and Rector Emeritus of VUZF.
“I would like to thank Assoc. Prof. Dr. Grigory Vazov, who as founder, president and rector of the Higher School of Insurance and Finance has an unsurpassed contribution to the creation, development and establishment of VUZF as the best business university in Bulgaria. “20 years have passed since the establishment of the university, VUZF is at the top of all rankings and I am happy to be part of such a successful team. I am sure that together we will continue on this successful path,” said the new rector of VUZF Prof. Boris Velchev after the election.
He teaches criminal law and international criminal law at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and at the University of Veliko Tarnovo “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”.
