Boris P., linked to Ridouan Taghi, was also in contact with the most wanted person in the Netherlands: ‘Bolle Jos’, according to the Public Prosecution Service (OM). It is suspected that P. was active with him in the international drug trade.

In a first introductory session, which revolves around the import and transport of more than 1,300 kilos of cocaine, the necessary names of alleged serious criminals were mentioned in the Rotterdam court on Wednesday.

They would have participated in a group chat under their nicknames, created on their encrypted Sky ECC phones. ‘Rasta’: nickname of Dennis G. who was arrested in April this year in the Dominican Republic. ‘El presidente’: One of ‘Bolle’ Jos L. Picasso’s nicknames is said to be Boris P.’s nickname.

Together they spoke in terms such as “Our boat will be in shortly”, referring to a ship carrying 259 kilos. And: “Just sucks, incredibly sucks”, when customs in Antwerp seize the drugs in February 2020. A statement that would come from P.. Just like the comment that this batch of drugs “should have come in smoothly”. “Hopefully the cocaine has not been tipped off,” said Picasso, who then wishes ‘El presidente’ strength with the loss.

According to the Public Prosecution Service, it substantiates P.’s involvement in the large-scale trade in cocaine from South America to the Netherlands, but also to ports in France and Spain.

Suspect angry about image

In court, P. himself denounced the image created around it by the alleged link with Taghi. A relationship that the 46-year-old born from Utrecht denies.

His lawyer Gerald Roethof referred to media coverage after P.’s arrest in Serbia last April. The man was described as an important link in Taghi’s gang. P. is said to have continued the drug trade on behalf of the criminal organization after the arrest of the main suspect in the Marengo trial.

P. has dual nationality and is not only a Dutchman, but also a Montenegrin. He left for Montenegro in June 2021, a country that does not extradite nationals. When he made a trip to Serbia in May last year, he was arrested.

In April of this year, P. was surrendered to the Netherlands. In the Rotterdam court, he emphasized that he is a family man who wants nothing more than to bring his children back to school. The court decided that the man should remain detained longer, but did investigate the option of whether P. could possibly go outside with an ankle bracelet.
