More than two years ago, on September 8, 2022, Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96. At the time of her death, she had been on the British throne for 70 years and was considered the longest-reigning monarch in Europe.
Unlike her son King Charles III, who made his cancer public in February, the Queen did not speak publicly about illnesses or physical ailments. After her death, the palace simply said that she had died of “old age.” However, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson claims to know the true cause of the Queen’s death.
Former Prime Minister reveals alleged cause of Queen Elizabeth’s death
In his memoir “Unleashed”, published on Sunday (September 29, 2024), Boris Johnson not only shares new revelations about Prince Harry, but also talks about his last meeting with Queen Elizabeth. A report from “newsweek.comAccording to him, he is said to have last seen the Queen two days before her death, on the day of her resignation.
“Edward Young, her private secretary, tried to prepare me,” Johnson remembers. “I had known for at least a year that she was suffering from a form of bone cancer, and her doctors feared that severe deterioration could occur at any time.” However, how the politician claims to have found out about her illness remains unclear.
Queen Elizabeth had “dark bruises” on her hands
The private secretary then led him to Queen Elizabeth, who greeted him warmly. However, when he saw her, Boris Johnson immediately noticed that she appeared “paler and more stooped”. He also noticed “dark bruises on the hands and wrists” of the then 96-year-old. He suspected that these came from infusions and injections.
The palace has not yet commented on the former prime minister’s alleged revelations and is unlikely to do so, true to the motto “never complain, never explain yourself”. Boris Johnson is not the first to make this claim: the historian Gyles Brandreth already wrote about the Queen’s possible cancer in her book “Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait” (2022). “I had heard that the Queen suffered from a form of myeloma – bone marrow cancer,” the royal expert revealed there.
By the way, it is not known what type of cancer the reigning king is suffering from. Despite his open approach to the disease, King Charles also remains silent about the exact diagnosis – for good reason.
