Boris Johnson’s resignation from the House of Commons was not voluntary. Johnson thus forestalled a decision by a committee of inquiry that wanted to suspend him for at least ten days in Parliament as punishment for his lies. The so-called Privileges Committee had warned the 58-year-old politician in writing a few days ago that it had found him guilty of lying to the House of Commons about the parties at 10 Downing Street during the corona pandemic and strict lockdowns.
