British Prime Minister Boris Johnson went to the hospital on Sunday evening on the advice of his doctor to undergo some medical tests, a spokesman for the official residence said. Ten days ago, 55-year-old Johnson was diagnosed with the coronavirus. He has been in home isolation ever since.
The spokesman says there is no medical emergency, but hospitalization is a precaution. Johnson still has symptoms of COVID-19 after ten days. Last Friday announced in a video message that he had a fever. At least Johnson is expected to spend the next night in the hospital.

Johnson is still in charge of the British government, the spokesperson added.
Johnson’s pregnant fiancé, Carrie Symonds, said on Saturday that she had been in bed for the past week with flu-like symptoms, but that she has recovered after seven days of rest.
Johnson was tested for coronavirus at his official residence on March 27 for increased body temperature and coughing symptoms, he said in a video on Twitter. In it he emphasizes the importance of staying at home. “Protect the health system and save lives.”

The coronavirus in short
- The coronavirus mainly spreads from person to person via sneezing and cough drops. The chance of becoming infected through surfaces such as door handles is small. This chance decreases if you wash your hands often.
- You can considerably reduce the chance of spreading by keeping at least 1.5 meters away from others.
- The corona measures have resulted in an infected person infecting less than one other person on average. Previously, this so-called reproduction number was between two and three.
- The vast majority of patients have mild (flu-like) complaints.
- Almost all deaths involve the elderly or other vulnerable persons, such as heart, lung or diabetes patients. If everyone complies with the measures, this reduces their risks.
