Boris Johnson casts doubt on Euro Cup final at Wembley

The final of the European Championship should be played at Wembley Stadium, London (England). However, the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson questioned it, due to the rise in infections due to the Delta variant.

According to the newspaper The Times, the English authorities gave extensions to the UEFA guests so that they should not be quarantined for 10 days.

However, when asked by the media, Johnson said they will see if “sensible exemptions can be made.” The authority indicated that “our priority is public health.”

It should be remembered that one of the conditions that UEFA would have put in order not to transfer the final and semifinals to another country with fewer requirements, was the reduction of quarantine days.

So far this new variant represents more than 90% of infections in the UK and is 64% more transmissible than the British variant.

For the World Health Organization (WHO), this variant “is becoming more prominent and dominant in some parts and this is worrying given the information we have about its transmissibility,” said WHO Director of Health Emergencies, Mike Ryan. .
