The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, on Sunday urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to “take a step back”, insisting that there is still an “opportunity” to avoid war and has announced that he will travel to Europe this week to hold meetings on the situation in Ukraine.
Boris Johnson “will address world leaders starting Monday and will travel to European countries later this week, in his attempt to unite Western allies in the face of the Ukraine situation,” as reported by ‘The Telegraph’ .
“There is still an opportunity for de-escalation and diplomacy, and the prime minister will continue to work tirelessly alongside our allies to get Russia to back down,” a Downing Street spokesman said.
Likewise, the newspaper explained that the British Foreign Minister, Liz Truss, is launching “war councils”, with contributions from the heads of the intelligence services and high-level diplomats from the British Embassies in Kiev. and Moscow.
Truss will also travel to Europe this week and is scheduled to deliver a speech at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday to address the impact of the Ukrainian crisis on global security.

Boris Johnson announced last week that around 1,000 more British troops would be ready in the UK to support a humanitarian response in the region, should the need arise.
