NEW YORK – The great National Puerto Rican Parade of New York (NPRDP, for its acronym in English) returned in its maximum expression this Sunday to Fifth Avenue in New York, and despite a rainy day, the Puerto Rican diaspora did not hesitate to say present and yell at the top of your lungs: “I am Puerto Rican, so that you know it”.
The great event, which celebrates the contributions and struggle of Puerto Ricans not only in New York but throughout the United States, commemorated its 65th anniversary in person after two years of being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year, thousands of attendees were once again able to share their joy in person, waving their Puerto Rican flags, dancing to red-hot bombs, and joyfully shouting: “What a beautiful flag!” and “Weeepa”.
The parade was also attended by several of your favorite Telemundo 47 anchors, including news anchor David Rodríguez, who was chosen this year’s parade ambassador this year.
Our David Rodríguez will be the ambassador of the Puerto Rican National Defile 2022.
The National Puerto Rican Parade traveled down 5th Avenue in New York City, beginning its journey from 43rd Street to 79th Street.
The United States also honors the state of Philadelphia, where more than 250,000 Puerto Ricans live in Berks and Lancaster counties in Pennsylvania; as well as Camden, Atlantic and Cumberland counties in New Jersey and Wilmington, Delaware.
