Borderlands adaptation wins backstage video at E3

Main gaming event in the world, the E3 2021, which happens digitally between June 12th and 15th, is known for presenting the main releases of the next years in the biggest game studios. During the panel of Gearbox Software, the president Randy Pitchford took fans on a tour of the set of the adaptation of Borderlands, which is being filmed in Budapest, Hungary – see above from 50:50.

During the tour, Pitchford chatted with Eli Roth, the film’s director, who revealed he was filming a scene “with lots of blood and full of organs”. “We want to make a great science fiction movie and not just a great video game movie”, said the filmmaker. During the chat, the two also praised the performance of Cate Blanchett, who lives Lilith, and her chemistry with Jack Black, which will be the Claptrap robot.

Pitchford also spoke very briefly with Edgar Ramirez, interpreter of Atlas, character still unheard of in games. The actor exchanged a few words with the executive saying only that he was happy to be part of the project.

Besides them, the president of Gearbox also met with the producers Emmy Yu e Ari Arad, with whom he recalled the long journey to get production off the paper.

Originally launched in 2009, the franchise Borderlands is set in Pandora, a post-apocalyptic world infested with creatures, bandits and bounty hunters seeking the elusive Vault, a mysterious secret that many doubt even exists. The shooting game gained two sequels, in 2012 and 2019, and also had two derivatives.

The big-screen adaptation will be led by Eli Roth, known for directing horror films like Or Hostel e cannibals, and for starring inglorious bastards, by Quentin Tarantino.

There is still no preview for the movie of Borderlands.
