Direct speech: “After February 24 (2022 – ed.) at the state border, we began to record a certain increase in attempts to illegally cross the border. First of all, by Ukrainian men aged 18-60, since this category of citizens is restricted from leaving Ukraine.
According to government decree №57which regulates the procedure for crossing the state border, there are exceptions, which of this category of citizens, if there are conditions for crossing the border and the necessary documents, can go abroad.
But the increase that occurred on the 24th encourages people to travel illegally.
If we compare the first months after February 24, then at the moment the number of those wishing to illegally cross the border has, of course, fallen. Then we detained dozens of people a day, sometimes 60-70 people a day, a person, but this is also along the “green section” of the border, that is, outside the checkpoints, and when citizens go through the checkpoints with fake documents.”
Details: Outside the entry-exit points, people most often go to the border on foot alone or in groups, and also often use the services of “dealers,” Demchenko noted.
And at legal checkpoints, men most often use fake documents, hide or dress up as women, he added.
According to the State Border Guard Service, during the period of martial law restrictions, about 140 organized groups were identified that tried to organize the illegal transfer of people across the border.
At the same time, the journalist cited data from a joint survey by the Ukrainian Institute for the Future and New Image Marketing Group that 21% of Ukrainians have acquaintances of men who illegally left Ukraine after a full-scale invasion.
This was preceded by: On March 7, the State Border Guard Service reported that since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, border guards have detained more than 11,000 border violators who tried to leave outside the checkpoints, and more than 4,000 people who tried to leave with forged documents.
March 30 border guards not released 6 men from Ukraine, because they found signs of falsification of their documents, which give the right to cross the border to persons of military age.
