Border guards caught 19 border crossers on Wednesday

On Wednesday, June 15, the State Border Guard (SRS) has detected 19 border violators at the external borders of Latvia, the SRS informs.

A Russian citizen who did not have a valid visa or residence permit, as well as one Moldovan and a Georgian citizen, who are prohibited from entering and staying in the territory of the Schengen area, are refused entry to Latvia at the border checkpoints of Grebneva and Riga airports. All three persons returned to the country of departure.

At the border checkpoint at Grebneva, Silene and Riga airports, two citizens of Ukraine and one each of Moldova and Belarus were found to have violated the conditions of residence in the Schengen area. These persons are held administratively liable.

Three Latvian citizens flying to Great Britain, whose documents were not valid for travel to this country, were stopped at the airport border checkpoint. Persons are not allowed to leave Latvia.

Violations of the rules of entry or residence have been identified for one Russian citizen during internal immigration control measures.

Border guards have prosecuted or prevented 27 people from crossing the border in violation of the operation of vehicles and vessels – nine citizens of Belarus, six from Latvia, five from Russia, two from Kazakhstan and one each from Moldova, Greece, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia and Germany.
