Border closure with the United States extended until June 21

Due to the recent relaxation of sanitary measures in the United States, several experts were worried about an imminent reopening of the border.

The detection of at least 11 cases attributable to the Indian variant in the province is also of concern to health authorities in Quebec.

At a press briefing, Prime Minister François Legault also indicated that he wanted the American border to remain closed “as long as it is necessary”.

Earlier this month, former Quebec premier Jean Charest said he believes the border between the two North American countries will be closed until the end of September, or even October.
