On the occasion of the laying of the first stone of the social and intergenerational residence, Ô Jardin in Floirac, Jean-Jacques Puyobrau, vice-president for housing, habitat and city policy, recalled the commitments of Bordeaux Métropole on housing production. Thanks to a set of proactive measures and an exceptional support fund of €20 million, the Metropolis has authorized nearly 3,000 social housing units during the year 2023.
An unprecedented action plan to alleviate the housing crisis.
In a context of national housing crisis, Bordeaux Métropole has exceptionally doubled its housing aid credits, for social housing. An additional support fund of 20 million euros was voted in June 2023. An important decision which makes it possible to support the construction of new social housing and facilitate access to housing for all.
Through these proactive measures, Bordeaux Métropole has authorized nearly 3,000 social housing units during the year 2023. After several years at half mast, this figure meets the housing production objectives. A first since 2018 for Bordeaux Métropole. In addition to this exceptional aid fund, Bordeaux Métropole supports the development of BRS (Real Solidarity Lease) to allow as many households as possible to access property by dissociating land from construction, and thus lower the acquisition price .
At the same time, work on land, particularly in conjunction with the EPFNA (Public Land Establishment of Nouvelle-Aquitaine) was carried out. Development operations are continuing, like the Euratlantique operation of national interest, which will make it possible to produce 26,000 housing units by 2040.
The 11th modification of the PLU voted at the last metropolitan council is an additional lever. The objective is twofold: to equip ourselves with tools to better respond to the effects of climate change, while maintaining a supply of housing, with the strong objective of developing the production of social housing throughout the territory.
This action plan in favor of housing is one of the most ambitious in France.
A solid partnership with Aquitanis
As part of this reinforced commitment, Bordeaux Métropole has signed an agreement of objectives and means with Aquitanis, the public housing office of the Métropole. This agreement aims to support the production of new housing as well as the renovation of existing housing. It demonstrates the importance of collaboration between public actors to address the housing crisis.
The Ô Jardin residence: a concrete example of Bordeaux Métropole’s commitment
With this in mind, Bordeaux Métropole and Aquitanis have today laid the first stone of the solidarity and intergenerational residence Ô Jardin. This new residence, located in Floirac, will include 45 social housing units as well as commercial premises. The Ô Jardin residence will stand out for its supportive and intergenerational approach, promoting well-being together. It will include housing adapted to loss of autonomy, collective spaces and shared gardens to encourage interactions between residents.
