The decision has fallen. This Tuesday at the end of the afternoon, the Bordeaux court rendered its own concerning the facts of “racist violence” and “sexist insults” which occurred on the night of June 24 to 25. That night, eight activists close to Bordeaux Nationaliste, presented at the time by the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office as “ultra-right political activists”, rushed towards a group of night owls who were chatting on the sidewalk, shouting “Bordeaux Nationalist! repeatedly, while performing Nazi salutes. The police had not been able to make any arrests because no one was present at the supposed place of the facts when they arrived. But videos had been taken by residents shocked by the events.
Seven of the eight ultra-right activists were sentenced to two years in prison, including one year. Among these, two will also be fixed on their fate on May 26 for acts of “aggravated violence” and “provocations to hatred” which occurred during the pride march on June 12 in Bordeaux. The last, the only one to appear when the judgment was announced, was sentenced to eighteen months in prison, including six months. All were also found guilty of “sexist insults” and sentenced to a fine of 800 euros.
Convictions which follow the requisitions of the vice-prosecutor of the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office who had appealed for an “exemplary sentence”. This seems to be suitable for civil party lawyers. Me Khady Ba welcomed the sentences “which correspond to the requisitions and therefore adapted”. “We had discussed the facts, the racist character and the fact that the defendants expressed no remorse, with the exception of one”, he still advances.
The racist nature of the violence confirmed
Indeed, the president of the court first wanted to specify the characteristics of “aggravated violence” held against these ultra-right activists: “The facts of violence in meetings are established because of the testimonies and video images which have been collected. The use of weapons is also established, because recognized by the protagonists. »
And to confirm the racist nature of this punitive expedition: “Walking around the Saint-Michel district chanting slogans as well as racist insults before and during the acts of violence demonstrate the racist nature of these. »
The only one to appear this Tuesday at the Bordeaux court, Florian Jorge had expressed his regrets and affirmed that he had cut ties with the other defendants during the hearing on March 23 and 24. It was he who received the lightest sentence.
