The spectacular accident occurred around 11 a.m., in a square on the edge of the Garonne in downtown Bordeaux, the tram violently hitting the car which was then embedded in street furniture, we told parquet.
The driver of the car, aged 86, was hospitalized in serious condition, with a life-threatening prognosis, while her 71-year-old passenger, less seriously injured, and the driver of the tram train, shot in the back without serious but shocked, were also hospitalized, said the emergency services.

The 70 or so occupants of the tram were able to exit without damage before help arrived, and witnesses assisted the victims, extracting them from the vehicle and attempting to provide first aid.
On the sidelines of the accident, however, a group of young people took advantage of the confusion to approach the vehicle and steal personal effects of the victims, including at least it seems a bank card of the driver, said the prosecution. .
According to the site Sudouest.fr , citing witnesses to the scene, several people then tried to pursue these young people, who would be three in number, without succeeding in catching them.
