After five months of work, the door Dijeauxlisted as a historic monument a century ago, has finally been fully restored since Wednesday, June 22, 2022. This building, which adjoins Place Gambetta in Bordeaux regained its original beauty.
It is an operation that cost no less than €270,000, and which made it possible to clean the monument, built between 1748 and 1753, clogged with pollution since its last restoration in 1971.
Result: the stones of the pillars were mostly in good condition, the cement patches were quilted and replaced with lime patches, the broken stone elements were restored and the damaged joints were dug out and restored with lime.
On the sculpture side, the bas-reliefs and sculpted groups have been cleaned, the sculptures have been mineralized and reinforced.
