Boran was the only candidate for the position. Krišjānis Feldmans, Juris Jurašs and Gatis Eglītis, who also served on the previous board, will also serve on the party board. Linda Ozola, the councilor of Riga, has been re-elected to the party board. One seat on the board was vacant after the party politician Juta Strīķe passed away.
Seven party members ran for the JKP board, including the Minister of Education and Science Ilga Šuplinska, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science Reinis Znotins and the Riga City Council deputy Jānis Ozols.
At the party event, the chairman of the JKP board, Jānis Bordāns, expressed the position that the first cornerstone on the way to a prosperous Latvia was “the eradication of state theft and education”.
“From the very first days of our party, the fans of the old politics chanted a handy song to them that these conservatives, who are not conservatives at all, are interested in only one thing – someone to take revenge or take revenge and take over the law enforcement agencies,” Bordans said.
In his view, all these speakers were wrong, because the JKP were both talented economists, educators and port authorities. “We find and we find new people, and with every moment of existence we accept,” the politician praised the party.
According to Bordan, without settling safety and legality issues, without providing the best education for children and adults, all efforts to build factories and industries will be like “pouring water through a bucket”.
“That is why the first cornerstone on the way to a prosperous Latvia is the eradication of state theft and education,” said Bordāns, claiming that at the end of the 19th century the industrial development of Latvia took place because “the most educated people lived and worked”. due to location.
According to the information provided by the party, the number of JKP regional branches has increased to 29, while in this year’s local elections, JKP plans to run in at least 32 municipalities.
Normunds Žunna, Anita Muižniece, Evita Zālīte-Grosa, Pēteris Aglonietis and Edgars Horns were elected to the JKP Ethics Commission, but Renārs Volkovs, Ilgvars Brakovskis and Uldis Budriķis were elected to the party’s Supervisory Board.
During the last year, the JKP board has reviewed the applications of 298 new members and the total number of party members has reached 1284 people, the party informs.
Municipal elections are scheduled for the first Saturday in June this year, and councils will be elected in 41 municipalities – six state cities and 35 counties. Municipal elections have already taken place in Riga.
