The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) was informed that on the International Anti-Corruption Day, a meeting of senior NNP officials was held under the auspices of Bordan to discuss the current situation in the field of preventing and combating corruption.
The Minister points out that certain information measures must be provided to address the public and show the consequences of tolerance of crime, corruption, violence and other crimes. Such a task is included in the NNP Action Plan, so law enforcement authorities need to come up with new educational initiatives to encourage them not to remain silent about corruption and to see it as a duty to society.
At the meeting, Bordāns called on the Bureau for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption to submit the new plan for the prevention and fight against corruption for 2021-2024 to the government for consideration as soon as possible. The implementation of the previous anti-corruption policy document – Guidelines for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption – was completed last year.
The Strategic Action Plan for the period from 2021 to 2026, approved by the Council for the Prevention of Crime, provides for measures to promote and motivate public participation in preventing and combating corruption and other latent crime. These measures are ongoing and therefore do not have an expiry date. At the same time, it is necessary to report regularly on progress and plan new activities.
According to the NNP Action Plan, it is necessary to implement information social campaigns on the consequences of not reporting offenses, the consequences of tolerance, tolerance of violence, corruption and other latent crimes.
