“Bord na Mona Offers Discount on Loose Briquettes at Derrinlough Factory”

In a move that is set to delight homeowners across Ireland, Bord na Mona has announced a significant reduction in the price of briquettes at their Offaly factory. This welcome news comes at a time when families are facing increased financial pressures due to the ongoing pandemic. In this article, we will delve into the details of this announcement and explore what it means for consumers in Ireland.

The factory located in Derrinlough, which belongs to Bord na Mona, has decreased the price of loose briquettes. One tonne, equal to 80 individual bales, can now be purchased for €350, with the price reduction from the previous €449 advertised. This offer is available only for April, and the briquettes must be collected from the factory near Fivealley, as there is no delivery option. Although prices for solid fuel have increased, the cost of loose briquettes is still over double the price of bulk buyers from a decade ago, who paid between €146 and €180 a tonne. Some purchasers directly buy trailer, truck, or pallet loads from the factories in Derrinlough or Littleton, Co Tipperary. Bord na Mona is now offering a clearance sale for its existing finished product ahead of the Derrinlough factory’s final closure later this year. Croghan Briquette Factory in Mountlucas closed in 2000, and Littleton ceased briquette production in 2018, so Bord na Mona is no longer manufacturing briquettes. The current retail cost of individual bales of Bord na Mona briquettes is currently around €7.50, which is an increase from about €4 a year ago.

In conclusion, Bord na Mona’s decision to significantly reduce its prices for briquettes at its Offaly factory demonstrates its commitment to providing customers with affordable and sustainable fuel options. With this move, the company not only provides customers with quality products at a lower cost, but it also shows its dedication to reducing carbon emissions and promoting environmental sustainability. We can all now enjoy a cozy, warm fire at home without breaking the bank or harming the environment. As we move towards a more eco-friendly future, Bord na Mona’s actions set a positive example that other companies should follow.
