Autumn is the time for colds, at this time our immunity prepares to fight back viruses and bacteria. Nutritionist Marina Goldinova told Klops what vitamins are needed and how to detect early signs of a lack of important minerals and trace elements.
Vitamin C
“Vitamin C is responsible for many processes, and not only for immunity, as is commonly believed, but also for blood clotting, and for the elasticity of blood vessels, and for collagen synthesis. That is, our beauty is collagen, and without vitamin C, collagen is not synthesized, so it is very, very important to use it additionally,” says the expert.
Almost everyone has a vitamin C deficiency, and the reason for this is frequent stress. Negative experiences provoke the production of the hormone cortisol, which, in turn, can lead to hormonal imbalance and the occurrence of cancer.
Deficiency symptoms:
poor wound healing; bleeding gums; bruises easily.
Vitamin A (retinol)
Vitamin A is an antioxidant; it is responsible for the health of cells, the condition of the skin, mucous membranes, urinary tract, and resistance to infections. You should not take it for a long time: the fat-soluble vitamin can accumulate and cause toxic effects.
Deficiency symptoms:
“night blindness” (impaired twilight vision); dry eye syndrome; “goose bumps” on the outer surface of the shoulder and hips; brittle nails.
Vitamin D
“Lack of vitamin D in children can lead to rickets. Likewise, there is a risk of allergies, asthma, autism, cancer, cardiovascular diseases; Often, as a result of a deficiency, diabetes, eczema, complications during childbirth, and caries can begin,” warns Goldinova.
The nutritionist noted that vitamin D deficiency occurs in almost everyone. It is necessary for all groups of the population to take it daily, taking a break only for the summer.
“But all the other 9 months of the year, especially in our region, you need to take vitamin D in accordance with your individual level,” says Marina Goldinova.
Deficiency symptoms:
muscle weakness; depression, nervousness; frequent colds; convulsions.
B vitamins
B vitamins have many different functions:
hematopoiesis: this is B12 (riboflavin), B9 folic acid); liver function – B1 (thiamine), B6 (pantothenic acid); nerve conduction – all vitamins from B1 to B12 (cobalamin); collagen production – B6 and B7 (biotin).
All of them are similar in their chemical composition and structure.
Deficiency symptoms:
fatigue; increased weakness; depression; numbness of the limbs; cracks in the corners of the mouth and dry skin; decreased appetite; insomnia.
Marina Goldinova reminded that only a doctor can determine the deficiency of a specific mineral in the body. He will order tests and prescribe dietary supplements that are right for you. The nutritionist also recommended sticking to a healthy diet, exercising, normalizing your sleep schedule, and trying to be less nervous.
