Booster Dose of Your Vaccine Causes Strong Reaction

LONDON (AP) – According to data released by Johnson & Johnson, a booster of your coronavirus vaccine – which is a single dose – causes a strong immune reaction months after the first injection.

J&J said in a statement Tuesday that it conducted two studies with people who received its vaccine and found that the second dose causes an increased antibody response in adults ages 18 to 35. The results are not yet reviewed by other professionals.

“A Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine booster causes increased antibody responses among study participants who had received our vaccine,” said Dr. Mathai Mammen, global head of research and development at J&J. Previously, the company published data that its single dose provided protection for up to eight months.

J&J said it has started discussions with the US Food and Drug Administration, the European Drug Agency and other regulatory bodies about applying booster doses of its vaccine.

J & J’s vaccine is approved in the United States and several European countries, and there are plans to supply at least 200 million doses to the UN-backed COVAX campaign, which distributes vaccines in poor countries. However, the company suffers from production problems and it was necessary to discard millions of doses manufactured at a plant in Baltimore.

Many health officials view the J&J vaccine as crucial to ending the pandemic because it requires a single dose, but fears sparked by the aggressive delta variant have led many governments to consider booster doses of many approved vaccines. .
