Now all citizens over the age of 18 will be able to receive the third dose of the vaccine after six months.
The Austrian National Immunization Council recommended COVID booster vaccination for citizens 18 years of age or older after six months or more from receiving the second dose. About it informs Kurier on Tuesday November 2nd.
Studies have shown that protection against infection decreases over time with all vaccines. At the same time, people under the age of 60 are still protected from the severe course of the disease, but the booster dose significantly enhances the protective effect – especially in the elderly.
Previously, the vaccination committee only recommended high-risk patients, residents of nursing homes, people over 65, and people at increased risk of infection.
Now revaccination is recommended for everyone who was vaccinated with AstraZeneca, after six to nine months with the mRNA vaccine. For a single-dose Johnson & Johnson product, booster vaccination with the mRNA vaccine is recommended after 28 days.
Recall that earlier in Romania and Bulgaria recorded record number of COVID deaths… Romania has the second lowest vaccination rate in the EU. In Bulgaria, the coronavirus vaccination rate is only 25.5% of the population.
It was also reported that in Greece COVID anti-record since the beginning of the pandemic… In the country, almost 5.5 thousand new cases of coronavirus were detected per day, more than fifty people died.
