If you have an allergy or suspect that you are allergic to something, you should of course always visit your doctor first. They may be able to tell you exactly what it is about or they can refer you to a specialist. Have you already done that, are you taking the necessary medication, but are you still looking for something to boost its effect? Then broccoli could be the solution.
A recent study by the Inserm and the Institut Curie, the results of which were published in the journal eLife, shows that broccoli and cabbage crops could boost your immune system, reducing your allergy symptoms. They do this by acting on the so-called Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptors – so if you don’t eat enough broccoli or cabbage crops, your allergy symptoms can get worse. The study was currently being tested for skin allergies (where there was an excess of a molecule called TGF-beta), but could prove relevant for other allergies later on. So putting a little broccoli on your menu can’t hurt!
