The UCI international cycling union sidelines Toon Aerts for 2 years after a doping case. To prove his innocence, the crosser let his hair grow.
He appeared with lush hair at a press conference last week. There was a fresher Toon Aerts in the Play Sports podcast studio today.
“No, my hairdresser wasn’t dead,” she laughed. “The lab managed to save some hair samples last week. The signal for me to finally be able to go to the hairdresser, just before the new year.”
A relief for the former Belgian and European cross country champion. “I thought I looked awful, I even had to look for a bigger helmet. Now I see the real Toon again in the mirror,” says Aerts.
“A true sportsman should be clean-shaven, I think. And with the haircut, even a little bit of stress seems to be eliminated.”
