Let’s start with work: what are your proposals?
“The first commitment is to defend work – replies Carlotta Gaiani, councilor for Cento and candidate for the regional elections with the Democratic Party -: we cannot accept that overnight we decide to leave hundreds of people at home. We will always be at alongside workers and their families. More generally, our territory needs a real reindustrialization project which must see the activation of specific tools by the Region and the Government”.
Healthcare remains one of the hottest fronts of this electoral campaign. You are a councilor in Cento, a place in which the principals have been at the center of controversy. What needs to be reviewed in the Emilia-Romagna model and what works?
“The priority is the defense of public health, accessible to all: Michele de Pascale said this forcefully in recent days in Cento, reiterating that we will continue to invest in hospitals and emergency rooms. Unfortunately, the right continues to speak falsehoods, it only does propaganda without addressing the real problems, starting from the lack of funding decided by the Meloni government. Healthcare in Emilia-Romagna is among the best in Italy, many come from other regions for treatment, but we do not hide the difficulties, first of all the problem of waiting lists. We need more doctors and health workers, and we must insist on everything that brings health care closer to citizens with attention to the issue of aging and non-self-sufficiency in which the Region is already investing heavily. “.
In recent weeks you have traveled around the area, visiting mainly businesses. What needs did they express to you?
“Two above all: reduce procedures, simplify regulations and continue to guarantee the role of business representatives in the regional tables that matter. Alongside these, the need for infrastructures that speed up road and rail connections, a simplification of the rules regarding immigrant labor, the issue of housing. We must make full use of the opportunity offered by the Simplified Logistics Zone which involves Bondeno in the Alto Ferrarese”.
How do you imagine the relationship between the Region and small local authorities?
“The Region must continue to dialogue intensely with the mayors and the territories, who are at the forefront in the relationship with the citizens. This is the added value of the Emilia-Romagna model. I know the problems very well but also the potential of our realities. Given the my education, which brings together professional legal expertise and experience as an administrator as budget councilor of the Municipality of Cento, which is second only to Ferrara in size, I am convinced that, if elected, I can forcefully represent our needs”.
What could Ferrarese’s contribution be if de Pascale were to win?
“There is a very important entrepreneurial fabric made up of small, medium and very small companies that operate in the most varied sectors, from manufacturing to agriculture, from agri-food to services, to gastronomy and fine craftsmanship, to culture and environmental tourism. Making these realities weigh more than what has been done so far can only bring added value to the government of this region.”
