Boomerangs Chapel Records Rare Song for Jubilee Birthday

“Since Boomerangs only performs a couple of times a year and records songs even less often, I wanted to record a song for my birthday that would match the mood of the moment. I asked the composer Jānis Lūsēnas if he had a song suitable for me. “Jānis thought about it and chose a song with the words of Kārļis Skalbes, “Drauks, kur siklis esi binas”, which was created a long time ago, has even become popular in the Piebalga area, but has never been recorded in a sound recording studio,” says the jubilee.

The arrangement was created and accompanied by the son of Jānis Lūsēns, Jānis Lūsēns junior.

“I have reached the age when I want to remember childhood, youth, to be in the places of that time, and the feelings are very similar to those that Kārlis Skalbe reveals in this wonderful poem and Jānis Lūsēns – in the beautiful, poignant melody. This song is a gift to myself, loved ones, friends and hopefully many listeners far and near.”

The town chapel Boomerangs from Valkas was founded in the summer of 1986 and soon became popular, being the first of the big stages to play previously forbidden songs and gathering listeners of all ages. Three concerts a day and a party at the end – this was the usual regime for more than one year. Few have received official recognition, but they have received the love of the people for couples.

A song that everyone knows – “Train Riga-Valka”. In recent decades, however, “Boomerangs” has mostly played original music composed by themselves (authors – E. Mednis, J. Skrajāns, VAKrauklis).
