A new week begins, synonymous with the renewal of the cultural agenda of the libraries from Ceuta. Activities for all ages, from the smallest to adults. Everyone has room to have a good time. This time, the protagonist is the booksince most of the citations are related to meetings with authors presenting new works.
To begin with, today the first session of the workshop on gender violence takes place starting at 12:00 in the Morro Library, located on Avenida de Africa. This Tuesday it will resume again, in the same place and at the same time. On Thursday, May 26, as a closing, the third session at the Adolfo Suárez State Public Library. This time at 5:00 p.m.
This is an activity promoted by the Federation of Women Progressive María Miaja next to the Engloba Children’s Center. It is not the first time that they teach this type of content, which is of special attention and importance among the youngest ages.
Following this, the Adolfo Suárez will give a talk called ‘A memory, a gift: a fight against oblivion’, which comes from the Eduardo Gallardo Salguero Foundation. This space, where the reality of the elderly and some of the consequences of memory loss will be glimpsed, will be from 7:00 p.m. The capacity is open to the public. Once the Multipurpose Room closes its doors, no more people will be able to enter.
In this same room of the State Public Library, you can also attend the ‘Almas de Cal’ photography exhibition. This initiative, promoted by the ‘Mirada’ Association, and whose author is José Antonio Domínguez, from Cádiz, reflects a different way of appreciating Holy Week. No less important, books take on importance this week in the city of Ceuta. Nothing more and nothing less, that four presentations will take place in which their own authors will attend. A space in which reader and writer have the opportunity to meet and chat for just over an hour about literature, books and other topics.
Friday will be the first day with two sessions, one after another. The first will be at 7:00 p.m. in the Multiple Use Room of the Adolfo Suárez, where María Sánchez Miaja and M. África Navarro Sánchez will attend. Both will present the book ‘The Spanish woman in history’. References that have marked milestones and that at the same time, given the circumstances of the time, have been silenced. Now, through its pages, it will be possible to put names and surnames to these referents who have left their mark on subjects such as medicine, law or science.
This same day, but at 8:00 pm, and in a female key, Magdalena Gómez Amores will give voice to her work ‘Quality of Women’. Without a doubt, this day will be marked by them.
The next day, Saturday, May 28, Alicia Morales will arrive at Adolfo Suárez at 7:00 p.m. to talk about her career as a writer. She there she will highlight her works ‘Where the lemon tree ripens’ or ‘The blessing of Lilith’. And an hour later, as a climax, she will give way to Víctor Almazán, who will address her work ‘Beyond the front’.
Reading week, seven days full of photographs. In addition, women will have an important role. A week of activities for all ages begins. Young and old have a place in these libraries.
